Cobweb Cookies
Ingredients:
– 2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
– 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
– 1/4 teaspoon salt
– 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
– 3/4 cup granulated sugar
– 1 large egg
– 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
– 1/4 cup powdered sugar
– 1 tablespoon milk
– 1/2 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
Instructions:
1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
2. In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt. Set aside.
3. In a separate large bowl, cream together the softened butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.
4. Add the egg and vanilla extract to the butter mixture, mixing until well combined.
5. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until a smooth dough forms.
6. Roll the dough into 1-inch balls and place them on the prepared baking sheet, spacing them about 2 inches apart.
7. Using the back of a spoon, gently flatten each ball into a disc shape.
8. Bake the cookies in the preheated oven for 10-12 minutes, or until the edges are lightly golden.
9. Allow the cookies to cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.
For the Cobweb Design:
1. In a small bowl, whisk together the powdered sugar and milk until smooth. Adjust the consistency by adding more powdered sugar if needed.
2. Transfer the icing to a piping bag or a small plastic bag with the corner snipped off.
3. Drizzle the icing in a spiral pattern on top of each cookie to create the cobweb design.
4. While the icing is still wet, place a semi-sweet chocolate chip in the center of each cookie as the “spider.”
