Title: Orange Roasted Turkey

Ingredients:
– 12-pound whole turkey, giblets removed
– 2 oranges, sliced
– 1 onion, quartered
– 4 cloves of garlic, peeled
– 4 sprigs of fresh rosemary
– 4 sprigs of fresh thyme
– 1/2 cup of unsalted butter, softened
– Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions:
1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and place the oven rack in the lowest position.

2. Rinse the turkey inside and out, then pat dry with paper towels. Season the cavity generously with salt and pepper.

3. Gently loosen the skin from the turkey breast by sliding your fingers underneath, being careful not to tear the skin.

4. Place the sliced oranges, onion quarters, garlic cloves, rosemary, and thyme inside the cavity of the turkey.

5. In a small bowl, mix the softened butter with salt and pepper, then rub the butter mixture all over the turkey, ensuring even coverage.

6. Tuck the wing tips under the body of the turkey and tie the legs together with kitchen twine.

7. Place the turkey breast-side up on a roasting rack in a roasting pan. Cover the turkey loosely with foil.

8. Roast the turkey in the preheated oven for about 2 hours, then remove the foil and continue roasting for another 1 1/2 to 2 hours, or until the internal temperature reaches 165°F (74°C) in the thickest part of the thigh.

9. Baste the turkey with pan juices every 30 minutes during the roasting process to ensure a moist and flavorful bird.

10. Once cooked, transfer the turkey to a cutting board and let it rest for 20–30 minutes before carving. This allows the juices to redistribute and results in a juicier turkey.

11. Carve the turkey and serve with your favorite side dishes for a delicious and festive meal.
